Designo Edition Almandine Black Paint Full service history
These W129 SL Mercedes are such great usable cars, with good care and maintenance they will go on forever
Ours here has covered a total of just 75,000 miles in her 20 years and has a full history to boot
Later versions of the 320SL, like this one, got an engine upgrade from Mercedes's inline six to their newly developed 3.2litre V6 allowing them a higher red line and a more raspy exhaust note
There were a few other upgrades introduced with the later cars as well, including new tail lights, an improved overall trim & more spec options
This particular example is one of only 150 Designo editions saved for the very end of production
As manufactures occasionally choose to do with a last of line car they threw the whole options book at them without exception and then introduced a few details to set the the Designo apart from other top specs examples
The machined aluminum fascia, two tone Bordeaux leather, Designo edition over mats, special Almandine Black (purple) paint and the 18-inch wheels are all Exclusive to the Designo
She has her original book pack, two keys & her wind deflector too - nice to see that still in place
All in all a lovely example of the best edition of a great car

These W129 SL Mercedes are such great usable cars, with good care and maintenance they will go on forever
Ours here has covered a total of just 75,000 miles in her 20 years and has a full history to boot
Later versions of the 320SL, like this one, got an engine upgrade from Mercedes's inline six to their newly developed 3.2litre V6 with 224hp, allowing them a higher red line and a more raspy exhaust note
There were a few other upgrades introduced with the later cars as well, including new tail lights, an improved overall trim & more spec options
The SL Designo was exclusive to the UK and was available in three versions, Alanite Green (dark green metallic), Mystic Blue (dark blue metallic) and of course, our example in Almandine Black (dark purple metallic)
Only 50 examples of each were produced, so this is a very rare and collectable Mercedes
As manufacturers occasionally choose to do with a last of line, car they threw the whole options book at them without exception and then introduced a few details to set the the Designo apart from other top specs examples
The machined aluminum fascia, two tone Bordeaux leather, Designo edition over mats, special paint and the 18-inch split tims alloy wheels are all Exclusive to the Designo
She has her original book pack, two keys & her wind deflector too - nice to see that still in place
All in all a lovely example of the best edition of a great car
