1958 Jaguar XK150 S 3.4 roadster - 10.000 miles since body off restoration
Considered perhaps the ultimate XK, the 150 S roadsters have a justified reputation for supreme performance coupled magnificent good looks
Produced in 3.4 litre form initially with 250bhp and uprated to 3.8 litres for final production and 265 bhp from 1960 - albeit the 3.4 litre engine is acknowledged as being the sweeter of the two units
Our example here is the 8th to be built ( 9 made in 1958 and 35 made in 1959 = total of 44 RHD only made ) and was kept by the first owner, a Mr Christohper, until 1976
Thereafter exported to Italy by Signor Majno and kept there until the 1990's when
famed model collector and perfectionist Mr Pressland
In the latter part of the 1990's a full body off restoration was undertaken to the highest standards and since then only 10.000 miles have been covered
The most recent owners, there have been 3 since Mr Pressland, are also illustrious car collectors and coincidentally the last 2 have both used her for the exclusive and by invitation only, Scottish Tour where naturally our XK has performed without fault
Also seen in the South of France during the summer, where she must have cut a dash, the last 2 owners have increased the mileage since restoration to 10.000 , it having been just 6.500 when bought in 2011
Understandably the previous 2 owners have only replaced her for the rarer, and much more expensive, 3.8 version ( 22 RHD produced ) and should this holy grail not have appeared she would still be sitting within their motor houses!!
As would be expected a superlative history folder accompanies the XK, including a photographic record of the restoration, original XK150S manual and brochure
Not surprisingly for such a significant piece of Jaguar history this XK has even been displayed at the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust
On the button and ready to go, opportunities like this don't come along very often
