1952 Jaguar XK120

Story and History

1952 Jaguar XK120 FHC - LHD

Finished very smartly in California Sage with tan hide interior this, to me, is one of the most attractive cars designs, especially when complete with the rear wheel spats

Originally supplied to our friends on the other side of the pond (Charles Hornburg, - great name - Los Angeles, California) she returned to the UK last year whereupon a complete refurbishment was undertaken - paint, trim, carpets, wood, instruments, tyres (Blockley), exhuast (stainless), engine, radiator, wiring, chrome work, heater, suspension (anti tramps arms included), lighting and anything else which I've omitted too !!

She is now in the most exceptional condition both mechanically and cosmetically and on the road she pulls really well for she has a particularly strong engine (just rebuilt remember)

Her heritage certificate confirms that she is to original specification, save for the exterior colour which was black (very post WW II), and she is what is described as a "matching numbers" example - very nice, most unusual but not essential

As these extensive works were only completed in December last, and very little mileage has been covered since, we have had her into our workshops so as to check and adjust everything last thing

She is now completely up to speed in every area, we have fitted an electronic choke, separate switch for the fog lights and an electronic motor for the washers (more or less completely useless otherwise) so she starts on the button whatever the weather and settles to a smooth idle with a wonderful exhaust burble from the twin pipes

There is a raft of paperwork evidencing all of the works carried out since here in the UK and also our list of updates since in our tenure too

2477 XK120 FHC were produced in LHD which goes to show the seriousness of the Export Drive attitude post WW II as only 195 were finished in RHD - which ever side the steering wheel sits I'm sure there aren't many as superb as this
