Story and History
1988 Jaguar XJ-S V12 Convertible
Amazingly with only 4.250 miles since new !!!!
Offered to us by our great friends from Sturgess Jaguar in Leicester - who were the longest serving Official Jaguar dealership in the World
This fabulous specimen is just, as they say, 'out of the box'
She has been kept in storage in Central London for the last few years, and indeed Sturgess picked her up in 2017, gave her a full health check, changed hoses, belts, tyres, filters, fluids, a/c & etc ( spending £ 10.000 ) whereupon she was put back into storage for another 7 years
Prior to this the owners had her delivered down to their place in France, where quite clearly they didn't drive her much either - so she came back home to London once more
So here we are again, another 200 miles later, and Sturgess again picked her up, gave her beautiful body work a full coach polish and sent her back down to London for us to photograph and list her for immediate sale
Mechanically she is on the button, of course, and she is about to have an MoT to validate this fact
The interior is as she came out of the factory, although the tonneau cover, as shown on the photo's, has shrunk whilst stored in her original pouch, as it's clear she has never been used
We are trying to stretch her back to fit, although probably we may just have to have a new one made - we shall see how this goes
The hood and glass are all unmarked, as are the carpets and the boot area as well
As you would expect, the engine bay is very clean and when you start up the amazing Jaguar V12 engine, she spins up & settles to a nice and even idle - press the loud peddle and the rev counter whirls around the gauge with zeal
All gauges work, as do all electric switches as well, the windows & electric mirrors work smoothly as does the hood
The lights look new with no crack or yellowing anywhere - actually one the fog lights has a crack, although fortunately Sturgess have a spare for us to fit (almost impossible to find nowadays)
We've always loved the style of the XJ-S, especially when in drop head form too
This one is truly for the connoisseur and against a similar V12 E Type or even an R107 Mercedes 500SL with similar mileage, this truly does offer amazing value for money !!
