1958 AC Aceca-Bristol

Story and History

1958 AC Aceca-Bristol
Concours Winner
Very rare car

To fire up, and turn on the Bristol engined AC-Aceca cannot be understated. It is a visceral experience; throaty, responsive, tight. A true enthusiast car with rarity, capability and beauty combined. In fact the engines used in the Aceca-Bristol, are the same engines used in the legendary Cooper Bristol race cars that launched Mike Hawthorne, Sir Stirling Moss and others into the motorsport world.

BE662 was supplied new in 1958 to the man who was responsible for the collaboration between Bristol and AC; Kenn Rudd Ltd. He was a tuner of cars, and helped collaborate and also sell these Bristol powered AC's new, BE662 being one of them.

The history of our car is huge, with lots of papers and invoices adorning the history file. Flying Officer J. H. Scullard was the first owner for roughly ten years until in 1966 Graham Enfield purchased the car from Camden Motors, and then kept her until his death in 2005.

The next long term owner then purchased her in 2005 and completed a restoration in 2013, with no expense spared. It followed with several concours wins. May 2015 at the ACOC National Concours in Worcestershire and subsequently won the Aceca Class at the 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 ACOC events. In 2018, it also won the ACOC Hurlock Trophy as 'Champion Car and in June 2019, the 'All Comers' class at the local MG Owners Club event. Testament to the quality of the restoration.

She wears a beautiful Damask Red - originally a Jaguar colour - that suits her beautifully, and has a very nicely done interior restoration that both still appear as new today as it must of a few years ago. A really beautiful car, with great pulling power and stylish elegance to go with.
