1958 Bentley S Type saloon Very original condition Recent expenditure of £30.000
Chassis B384FA was originally build in the very smart livery of Sand over Sable with contrasting beige hides to the interior, a combination which she still wears to this day, 62 years later
The factory build records also note that she was to be delivered via SS "Leinster" from Liverpool to Dublin on the 23rd March 1958 and thereafter she was destined for Huet Motors, the Official Rolls-Royce and Bentley dealership of Eire, as their Trials Car
The log book confirms this and also that they kept her for 8 years until they sold her to Mr Stevenson, Director of Pownall & Hampson, based in Dublin on Fireworks night in November 1966
It's rather charming, as the last owner remembers seeing this motorcar in the showrooms of Huet's when on his way to school in period
He has traced the history and even has pictures of the vessel which shipped her over to Ireland and also of Huet Motors showrooms in Mount Street, Dublin
Hence when he saw her for sale in 2017, he had to buy her
She had previously been enjoying life in the US for the previous 30 years, and although she was in remarkably original condition he undertook mechanical repairs to the tune of £15.000 (complete brake overhaul, replacement gearbox and etc) and then enjoyed her for summer touring, where she visited France and Switzerland in separate trips, without hiccup
She came to us in exchange for one of our cars, since when we have stripped the sable paintwork back to bare metal and and repainted correctly, whilst for the interior we have completely refinished all burr walnut veneers
Driving superbly with smooth engine, brakes and gearbox the engine bay and interior show signs of her 62 years - amazingly she has never had the interior hides re-coloured, or Connolised and happily they remain in unfettered condition
Similarly the engine bay is very clean and has never been "dolled up" for the Concours arena
Nowadays there are categories for cars with Patina, and we feel this beauty may fair rather well on this type of stage, or if you prefer to just enjoy her as the next custodian all to your self
Overall one of the nicer S types you could find
