1967 Daimler Sovereign

Story and History

1967 Daimler Sovereign - Works Prepared

An extremely special motor car with which, I have been completely smitten

Since arrival here in Kensington I have used this as my daily transport, whisking me up to Hertfordshire and also around and about the central part of this wonderful metropolis

In each and every way she drives as well as she looks and let me tell you, she looks beautiful as she in absolutely remarkable condition

It's not just me who thinks this, the Jaguar Drivers Club do too, for she won her regional finals and was therefore the Best in her Class and taken to the National Finals, at the International Classic Car Show, held at the NEC

She is also a rather special specimen, for she is the fourth of four rally back up vehicles built by the factory. As she was never used in anger she was dispatched to Official dealers in Manchester, where she was sold to her first owner

This explains the unusual specification, manual gears with overdrive, heated front and rear windscreens, chrome roof rack with wooden slats (reminiscent of a Fairey Swordsman, me thinks, or dare I even suggest a Riva!), sundym front windscreen, electrical socket below dash and as ordered in 1971, a full set of fitted luggage (the original paperwork for this is still within the history file

Sitting on, the famed, magnesium Minilite wheels, specially painted black with yellow pin striping (very smart actually and years ahead of modern Lamborghini's with their blackened alloys) she also has her original chromed wire wheels, in immaculate condition too, as you would expect

Every dial (including the clock), switch and stalk work and the original Radiomobile radio entertains me with coverage of the Olympics and Test Matches on "Five Live"

A joyous and wonderful car - better than this I have not come across
