1984 Range Rover Classic to Overfinch 570i specification
Truly a lovely example of the Classic Range Rover, built to the Overfinch 570i specification, in the same ownership since 1994.
The original 1970's Range Rover design was led by the Land Rover engineering team (Gordon Bashford & Charles Spencer King) – testament to the cars utility – however a cosmetic hand was later applied in the form of David Bache, to make a few tweaks and eye-pleasing changes to the functional lines, giving the car a multidimensional character; a dedicated 4x4 that performed better off-road than the Land Rover before it, and combing a much more comfortable interior with moist pleasing exterior lines.
This effort resulted in a 26-year design-span, with only minute changes either being made, or added. 1984 saw the first major shift in production toward a more upmarket car; with leather trim as an option, automatic transmission, and in 1985 a updated instrument pod making it more modern, and replaced door cards, with walnut veneers.
Our example is a 1984 model, and fitted with many wonderful options, not least of which being the 5.7 litre V8 engine mated to an automatic gearbox. Performance, as you would expect, is fantastic as is the rumble of this vehicle, even when stationary and at idle. Leather interior, new black headlining, special alloy wheels, air conditioning, smoked windows, new lights, twin exhaust system etc. etc. all finish off a fantastic package.
The last owner, who moved to Italy, left her in storage for many years and so recently she has been fully re-commissioned, resprayed completely and thoroughly serviced with new coil packs, hoses, pipes, uprated suspension bushes, uprated shock absorbers, uprated springs the list goes on ...
This Range Rover has stunning performance with amazing acceleration and quite magnificent handling to match
Both in town, off and on road she performs brilliantly and indeed Modern Classics magazine has just covered her in a main feature for their next issue.
