1949 Bristol 400 - restored condition

Tony Crook was a personal friend of ours and his influence on Bristol Cars is immeasurable

The original 6 cylinder versions have a following specific to the marque as the engine is as a sweet as a nut and was used by various manufacturers, including Coopers and AC amongst many others

Many period young up and coming F1 stars cut their teeth on Cooper Bristols, including Sir Stirling Moss, Mike Hawthorn and of course, Tony himself

Having such a magnificent engine helped to engender the Bristol marque it self and the 400 having raking styling meant they had a real hit on their hands

Technically advanced and very fast these 400's were very expensive, as all Bristol's have been - almost an enigma in their own time

This quite early version is in immaculate condition having spent the last 10 years with a new chum of ours, introduced through a colleague in the RAC

A very splendid history folder includes many documents through the years, including the first sales invoice from March 1949

More recently the engine has been rebuilt and installed (many of the original engine had been robbed for racing purposes in period) and the bodywork and interior have been refurbished just under 10 years ago

The interior is a real mix of pre-war Art Deco with flared door cards which is a real feast for the eyes

So one of the better 400's in our opinion and most worthy of consideration for both Bristol officiando's and those new to the marque
