Story and History
1973 Jaguar E Type V12 Roadster
27.250 miles only
Just 3 owners
Manual Gears too
What a cracking find - one owner for 32 years and seriously low mileage of just 27.250 miles since new !!!
Many thanks to our long time chum Jules, who sourced this beauty for us
First supplied by Jaguar Cambridge registered FTM 268L
Work soon took the first owner to Los Angeles, California and as he loved his Jaguar so much, he took her with him - we like that
After several years he came home, as did the E Type, at which time she was again registered here in the UK
He kept her for another 17 years until 2005, at which time the mileage was a trifling 25.000 (there is a letter to that effect from the first owner validating his ownership and true mileage)
Since when she has been regularly serviced although hardly used at all - hence the total mileage is just 27.250
The last owner purchased her from Bramley Motors in 2018 and since we collected her we have carried out a full service and check over - actually not much was required and she drives so well
There is a clear difference between a fully restored car against one that is clearly well looked after and with minimal usage - we've said this before, but it feels like using a car in period which is two years old, everything feels tight and also right
We've ordered a new hood bag, in the correct vinyl (not mohair) and apart from new gearbox mounts just normal service items were required - even the air filters looked like new although we changed them as a matter of course
Supplied with sundym glass, chrome wire wheels (fitted with the correct Dunlop SP sport tyres) internally adjustable drivers door mirror and a snazzy Becker Europa period stereo with electric aerial, for an E Type of this period, this is about as much as you could option from the factory or supplying dealer
My father had two of the V12 E's in period and I recall how smoothly they ran, how compliant was the ride and that at 100mph the engine was only ticking over at 4.000 rpm - phenomenal stuff
This one feels exactly like this and is one of the most original V12's we've had for years
