Originally owned by the Duke of Marlborough Completely restored recently
Originally supplied new to none other than the Duke of Marlborough, and first registered to his most distinguished residence at Blenheim Palace, this Bentley S2 carries with it a provenance as grand as its lines.
Finished in the most dignified shade of Midnight Blue, she has benefitted from a painstaking body-off restoration, the detail of which is fully documented in her accompanying history file. The result is as close to perfection as one might hope for, from the immaculate presentation beneath the bonnet with Bentley's majestic L Series V8, to the art deco–inspired headlamp arrangement that so beautifully complements the flowing coachwork.
The interior, trimmed in ivory hide with wheat carpeting, is believed to be original and now displays a gentle and attractive patina, befitting a motorcar of such pedigree. Burr walnut abounds across the facia and door cappings, the rear compartment enhanced with fold-down picnic tables – the hallmarks of Bentley refinement.
Air conditioning was standard equipment on the S2, but this example goes one better with the optional full-length sunroof, giving her occupants the choice of cool, modern comfort or the joys of open-air motoring.
PBW 900 has been the subject of extensive mechanical and cosmetic attention over the years, ensuring she remains in the finest fettle. The restoration extended to a full chassis refurbishment and repaint, while the renowned Dennis Pilling & Son undertook a complete engine rebuild in 2015, alongside a thorough woodwork restoration some years earlier.
The accompanying file illustrates a life of no expense spared, and today she runs and drives with the authority and grace one would expect. With over one hundred thousand miles believed to have been covered, this S2 is no garage queen but rather a thoroughly sorted Bentley, carrying with her both aristocratic provenance and a standard of preparation that places her amongst the finest available.
