1987 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Sport
A most unusual Carerra, the initial Porsche in the Harrison Collection, which culminated in a total of 14 Porsche vehicles, ranging from a 1951 pre A 356, through 550 RS Spyder, 904 GTS, 906 Carrera 6, 2.7 RS, 934 to 933 GT2 and a specially commissioned RUF Turbo coupe
Mr Harrison used all of his cars, entering Le Mans, Tour Auto, Paris - Peking, Spa 6 hours etc and the 911 here was always a part of his "Equip"
He even took Magnus (his name for this trusty steed) from home in Monaco, via skiing in Lech, to Tromso in Norway to witness the Northern Lights - all is revealed in his book covering all of the Porsche's and the boats, bikes and helicopter too
This is the last of the main body of the collection left, fitting as it was a major part of same, and also the inspiration too
As can be understood, the owner of this car was not short of a few bob, and as this car held a special place for him, looked after it without consideration to costs
Owned by him for the last 12 years, within the comprehensive history folder will be found bills for an amount of around 60.000, from renowned Porsche specialists, Gant Speed Engineering, which cover the following:-
Bare metal repaint
Engine rebuild
Gearbox ( G50 ) rebuild
Suspension rebuild
Sports exhaust system
Refurbished Fuchs alloy wheels
Complete re-trim to include hide to all surfaces (fascia, door cards, instrument binnacle, rear parcel shelf, headlining)
New carpets to cockpit and front boot area
Upgraded stereo and speakers
Gant Speed have just given her an engine out service and new clutch ( 5.500 ) so that this Carerra 3.2 looks, performs and handles as well now as any other you may find
In reality he wanted this car to represent the best that a 3.2 Carrera can provide, an ability to cover major journeys without hiccup, and at great speed, whilst looking completely stock
To put it succinctly he succeeded
