1950 Bentley MK VI Fixed Head Coupe by Park Ward
B 279 FU was supplied in August 1950 to her first owner, Mr Porter from Liverpool who would have paid the sum of 4.663 - a small fortune in those days - and how happy he must have been after spending all this money
He specified a few nice little touches such as the factory fitted sunroof and bespoke bumpers both front and rear
This is an imposing car, even today, way back then this must have been a remarkable sight indeed - a period of austerity and even food rationing was still in place, so the sight of a coach built Bentley wafting along in those days must have made a few heads turn!!!
She had two other owners in the Liverpool area before going to the ownership of my ex business partners, previous business partner, the famed Bentley dealer in Marylebone, London W1, J G Alpe Esq (Jack)
Sold to the United States she was in Denver, Colorado in the late 1980's and was then sold to Texas before coming back to Europe in 2004 via Denmark
Her last owner, a collector of very many cars indeed, restored her to the glory you see in these photographs
Paintwork, wood work, interior carpets and hides as well as an engine rebuild put her in extra fine fettle - most recent bills on file amount to 34.000 Euro
A most elegant and unusual design this car would, I'm sure, be welcome at any prestige Concours Event or be equally at home speeding down the highway
