1975 MG BGT

Story and History

Fully restored

Stage II engine upgrade

Leather & Burr Walnut interior

The MGB GT is just such a brilliant little sports car, reasonably quick, reliable, nimble, fruity exhaust note, remarkable space for luggage and enough leg room to make owners of a modern Rolls-Royce Cullinan take a second look

We've always thought they were great cars and had a few ourselves over the years too

This example is just a little bit special though, with lovely Burr Walnut veneers, full leather interior, new carpets bound in leather, moto-lita steering wheel, 15inch painted minilite wheels, modern integrated stereo (bluetooth connectivity etc), and a stage II engine upgrade that makes her really quite pokey

The attention to detail is wonderful with such little add-ons as the MG logo's to the window winders, Burr Walnut door pulls to the door cards, factory sundym glass, mudflaps, MG rubber overmats, stainless steel exhaust system, chrome windscreen wiper arms with wind deflectors, bullet door mirrors, electric aerial & bespoke seat belts guides

The history folder is wonderfully deep and shows that in 1996 she was given a full restoration by marque specialists Colne Classics, still going as a family run business today. One would be forgiven for thinking the restoration was much more recently however, such was the extent to which Colne Classics went and the lasting quality of their work - hats off

It was at this time, whilst the engine was being restored, the stage II head was fitted - the car showing 46,584 miles at the time - as well as all the suspension being overhauled, the interior being re-trimmed, a full bare metal re-spray etc etc

She is noticeably faster than a standard 'B' with the engine spinning up swiftly and the free flowing exhaust manifold teaming up beautifully with the stage II head to make an ever raspier version of the already famously raspy exhaust note of the 'B'

Quite usefully she was also optimised to run on unleaded petrol at this time as well

So since her full restoration she has only covered 28,735 miles of her 75,319 total with regular maintenance ensuring her longevity

Within the history folder there are old invoices and MoT certificates going back to 1982 helping to validate the total mileage

To use and run she is a pure joy, with fully functioning overdrive on third & fourth she can comfortably do the motorway cruise in relative quite as well as conquer the British B road (no pun intended) with style and excitement

A better 'B' we think would be hard to find
