Once again we've been left in awe by another of these amazing Bristols, this time a 407 the first Bristol car to play host to the iconic Chrysler V8

Only 88 407's were produced so this is a very rare car indeed, as is often the case with rare cars they were extremely expensive when new

Generally Bristol customers were well-heeled businessmen as well as car enthusiasts, who wanted a car to drive but not be noticed within

Those who run them today reflect well those who chose them in period, a sophisticated individual whose aim is not to be noticed but to be discreet whilst letting those who 'know' know

This particular example has come to us through a chap we've had many cars from over the years, each as delicious as the last, this 407 keeps that trend going

With a modest 98,000 miles currently reading on the odometer she's only covered 4000 since a complete restoration, after which it won first prize at the Bristol Owners Club Concourse in 2015

All Bristols have their little qwerks thanks to the left field thinking of Mr Tony Crook & the 407 is no exception, the process of selecting gears through buttons on the dash might be common place today in your hybrid electronic fridge but for 1961 it was fairly forward thinking

Our car specifically, as mentioned, was completely restored only a few years ago ( the costs incurred run into over £70.000 at that time) and given a few minor upgrades

Hardened valve seals were put in to allow her to run on unleaded petrol, the rear axle was rebuilt with a higher ratio giving more relaxed cruising, improved MPG & a greater top speed, a stainless steel exhaust was fitted and an electric power steering system was designed and installed by GTC Engineering, who make the system adjustable in 3 levels of power (a deft upgrade we think)

GTC are well known for their sympathetically designed electric power steering for classic cars, when driving her one would be forgiven for thinking it was a standard feature

Finished in metalic Cambridge Grey with green leather interior & green carpets the spacious cabin allows one to travel with three passengers in great style and comfort

She drives seemlessly, with a sonorous note burbling from the twin exhausts at the rear and the colours chosen for this example are pure heaven

A very fine example indeed and one we are proud to offer
