1970 Mercedes Benz 280SL - Complete restoration Unused since Price revision
As close to the original as you could find - this complete cracker is more than stunning
My dear father had one in period as his everyday smoke - similar colours, although he had chosen to paint the hard top and wheel discs in black
Anyhow, I digress - driving this one brings back some lovely memories as she feels akin to a new car, rather than a 50 year old second hand car
Raspy exhaust note, smooth suspension and steering too - everything works smoothly actually - window winders, door locks, heater control (normally stuck in one position, or at least difficult to operate........), soft top operation is an easy task for one person, doors open and close with that solid thunk, seats glide in their runners etc etc
There a Becker Mexico Retro unit fitted with blue tooth for phone, Sat/Nav. iPod / phone connection for music etc
Even the instruments have been sent to Germany for complete overhaul - a real attempt to ensure this car is as good as it could ever be
Purchased a few years ago from our friends at Silver Arrows, as a very good usable car after a couple of years the owner decided to check the sills and other underside areas
Now we all know what happened next - so a few areas of concern around the floor pan became a fully fledged "rotisserie restoration"
Completed in early 2019, with a full file of invoices (totalling £ 281,072:00) plus the cost of the car in the first place
Hence, as we've said, coming across another in such complete condition would be difficult, maybe impossible
The photo's do help but a real inspection would be suggested, to validate the quality of this pretty little Merc
