1937 Chevrolet 5 Window Coupe Custom Resto-Mod with 350 V8
Not our usual fodder but when this was offered to us, we just had to say YES
So pretty is the original bodywork style, no wonder these Pre-War Coupe's are being snapped up by the custom shop's in the US
The black paintwork is like glass, the interior is delightful and the mechanical upgrades make this Street-Rod / Rest Mod / Custom Job or whatever you specifically call it, one of the best out there, in our opinion
Previously 'rodded' in the 1960's and then purchased back in the 1990's by a chap who was well known as builder of cars like this
He created this beauty with his chum, another well known 'Hot-Rodder' (don't we love the many Americanism for these customs jobs......) and as they build her for personal use and Showing, they took their time to do this job to the best of their ability - and Wow, it sure does tick all of the boxes
They must have spent a fortune on parts alone
Finishing the build in 2006 only 11.000 miles have been covered and she is still in immaculate condition, both mechanically and cosmetically
Using the original steel tub, built in period by Fisher, this Rod has the following:-
Created Chevrolet 350 5.7 V8 with 300Bhp
Edelbrock performance
4BBL carburettor
Turbo 400 automatic gearbox by TCI
Mustang II front suspension
Rear sway bars by Chassis Engineering
Front discs & drums to the rear
Ceramic headers feeding into twin Flow Masters (the sound is intoxicating)
Milled valve covers (rocker covers for us)
Polished A/C compressor and alternator too
Nova 10 bolt rear end with highway friendly gears
Great classic stance with Air shocks in the rear to adjust the height if desired
New rubber on a beautiful set of polished American Racing Torque Thrust wheels
Split front screen with Sundym glass and tints in all other windows
The interior has been trimmed professionally in mushroom leather, with bespoke fascia controls and instruments too, so that although we have modern gauges which are accurate, everything still looks period
The air conditioning vents and controls again look very sympathetic, as does the modern stereo installation
Mod cons are here in abundance too, with electric windows and electric suicide door opening
This is just the headline stuff and in reality what it gives us is a really nice and tight driving Hot Rod without the squeaks and rattles you usually find on lesser builds
We simply love this car
