1976 Rolls-Royce Corniche Saloon Series 1A - Restored Condition
Always a pleasure to drive around in these excellent Coachbuilt Motorcars
This example was delivered new in Jersey and enjoyed the care and attention of the local Authorised Rolls-Royce Service Centre, St. Helier Garages. They carried out 11 services from 1976 to 1987
She was subsequently sold by Authorised Rolls-Royce Dealers Mead of Burnham to a family in the Marlow-on-Thames area in 1989 and they continued to use Meads to look after her until 1994, where 8 more services were carried out!
The vehicle was then used much less as the owner was now elderly and eventually the family decided to give her to Classic Rolls-Royce Specialists Frank Dale & Stepsons for a sympathetic restoration
A bare metal repaint was undertaken together with all interior items being renewed too - new hides / carpets / lambs wool over rugs / wood and CD stereo / electric aerial. Mechanically she had new tyres and a complete service, all hydraulic flexi hoses and a set of Bilstein Shock Absorbers with Bilstein Anti Roll Bars too
Tyres and braking systems were renewed at the same time
Since completion of these works in 2006 she has been in Professional Storage and we have been lucky enough to take her into our care now
We have just carried out another major service, based on time not mileage covered, including a change of the automatic transmission fluid too
This model is commonly refered to as the Series 1A and as a Coachbuilt example Rolls-Royce introduced upgrades onto these models before they rolled them out to the Silver Shadow. Therefore this is a very rare example with the chrome bumpers (ie more traditional look) yet encompassing the new Rack & Pinion Steering and Automatic Bi-Level Air Conditioning that were introduced onto the Silver Shadow II. In fact these systems were so capable that they continued to be used on both Rolls-Royce & Bentley models until introduction of the Silver Seraph & Arnage in March & May 1998 respectively
This example is exceedingly rare and beautiful whilst in the most incredible condition
