1976 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray L82
A magnificent example of the wonderful, and exuberant American muscle cars
The L82 is the high performance version (well in terms of the period with lots of emission controls) and was capable of 0 - 60 in 6.5 seconds in standard L82 specification and manual gears
This superb example has the 4 speed manual gears (unusual at this time) honed with not just the L82 engine upgrades but also subsequently fitted with free flow exhaust manifolds and the Holly carburettor breathing through the Edelbrock inlet manifold
The balance of the exhaust system is free flowing too so not only is performance significantly upgraded but the noise produced at any time is simply fantastic
Other factory upgrades are the air conditioning (new compressor recently fitted), T Top removable roof panels, smoked glass, leather interior (original and unmarked), electric windows and correct period alloy wheels
Fully serviced and with many recent upgrades carried out both here and in the US too this 'Vette is simply a real drivers car, with everything working correctly and above and beyond original specification
Headlights and wipers (known weaknesses of these Chevrolets) are without fault, raised white lettered tyres are brand new, luggage rack is too, door seals have been renewed, whilst the chassis has been greased as required and oils in diff, gearbox and engine have all been changed
Fully tuned up and tested extensively she now performs with the most amazing acceleration, matched up with the most phenomenal V8 rumble, accompanied by the crack of the exhaust system
We mentioned earlier this year that these C3 'Vettes offer superb value and when considering what else you can buy with a 5.7 V8, looks every way as sexy as an E Type, and all for 1/3 of the price
Still retaining the original L82 rocker covers, the original tank sticker and with matching numbers this is a really unusual C3 mid series 'Vette and with the most desirable specification too
Remember in period the Nasa Astronauts all used Corvette C3's as their everyday transport - using the Corvette to go to work, in Space!
Pretty heady stuff and these cars, good enough for Astronauts, certainly offer a big bang for your buck, for sure
