1975 Lotus Elan +2S 130/5 - Obstensibly one owner ONLY
A relatively important car in the annals of Lotus History being one of the very last +2S manufactured prior to the Lotus Elite being introduced
Chassis 2010 (this example) is the last listed in the Lotus records although it is believed that there may have been chassis 2011, 2012 & 2013 too
Not withstanding that this example cost the mighty amount of 3.831 - more than an E Type V12 Roadster
This example benfitted from a Radio(!!), Sundym Glass and a knuckle jointed map reading light
The original purchase invoice comes with the history file together with the very first tax disc (Expiry Jan 1976)
Mr Adkins part exchanged his 1971 Elan +2 at the time of delivery and continued to use the car on an every day basis until 1982 when she had a body restoration (courtesy of Portuni Ltd) - was colour changed from Roman Purple to Red - an engine rebuild, new clutch, new radiator and various items of trim work carried out
By 1989 she had covered a total of 49.661 miles and again was treated to some overhaul works. Official Lotus Classic Dealers Daytune were entrusted with a new chassis and sill members too - the cost for which, in 1989, was rather hefty at 7117
Yet again in 2008 the original owner had the "works" carried out again, this time by Paul Matty Sports Cars. This time the bill came to 27.658 - so as you can see the original owner truly had fallen head over heels for this pretty thing!!!
He was not the only one for a car as good as this gets to be well recognized and as such Lotus Cars have requested her presence at their 40th Anniversary in 1988, the 50th in 1998 and again for their 60th in 2008 where on each occassion she has been used as "the special display piece" for the +2S model
More over she was also used in 1993 for a joint exhibition by Lotus and Bugatti
She also won various awards at Lotus or Peter Day orgainsed Events at Hethel, Brands Hatch and Ketteringham Hall
Oh yes, there are also 27 MoT's on file from her first issued in 1978
If you are looking for as good an example as you can find then this is it
