1975 Fiat 126 - 10.000 miles only
Another amazingly original classic car is unearthed with a truly astounding low mileage
This lovely 126, the successor to the 500 and introduced in 1974, is one of the very early ones to hit the road in the UK
The first owner kept her until 2000 and 6.000 miles with a log, delightfully hand written in a very flowing style, outlining routine maintenance and mileage during the 25 years of ownership
Also kept within the folder is every item from the book pack and more - instruction booklet, dealer listing, warranty and service booklet, anti rust warranty (this was carried out when brand new by the supplying Fiat Dealership, Leedhams of Haxby, Yorkshire), and in 1986 a further rigorous application of Waxoil was applied at 8.120 miles, sales brochure, price list, type approval certificate dated 21 / 02 / 1975 and various other bits n pieces
Since 2000 there have been 3 other keepers and the mileage has now risen to 10.155
Her last owner, from Scotland, has also presented her at the prestigious Borders Vintage Automobile Club where she won a nice large red rosette for 1st place
The paintwork, interior trim, luggage compartment and engine bay are all absolutely original, almost unmarked and the little 594cc engine, producing an impressive 23bhp according to the brochure, roars into life at the turn of the key
Surely there isn't a better 126..........
