1974 Maserati Bora 4.7
In the 1970's there were only three real mid engined "super cars" in my mind - the Lamborghini Countach (mad as you like and brilliant for it) Ferrari 365 GT4 BB or the Maserati Bora
Production numbers for super cars in those days were very low and only 29 Bora's were sold here in the UK in RHD - this is one of those (289 total production for the 4.7)
In remarkable condition overall we have just rebuilt all of the suspension bushes and shock absorbers, overhauled the brakes and balanced the carburettors
She performs in a fantastic manner now with superb acceleration, and very quiet high speed cruising - this sort of performance must have been a revelation in period, a much more sophisticated and refined drive than either of the opposition but sales figures suggest that buyers wanted something a little more exciting - perhaps the Bora was ahead of its' time here
A brilliant feature is the way the pedals move backwards and forwards to suit the drivers needs - lots of very special touches included in this Maserati and Guigiaro design icon and wafting along with the sonorous tune of the race bred quad cam V8 with a stack of Weber carbs just behind your head brings goose bumps to your neck and spine
