1978 Bentley T2 - restored condition
A welcome return for a trusty old friend
We first bought this delightful T2 from the son of the second owner, who had bought her when only 2 years old, as a company car. Of course, when he retired he chose to buy her from the business and retain her as his personal means of transport
This he did until he was basically too old to drive any more and hence his son called us to buy the car, which by that time, did show a few battle scars from his parking manoeuvres!!
This was at the end of 2007 and we undertook a light cosmetic overhaul - these Bentley's rarely need anything serious mechanically being good for at least 250.000 miles normally
A bare metal repaint in Highland Green (she was 2 tone brown before), re-trimmed front seats, new leather to the fascia top roll, knee roll, steering wheel and horn push, new lambs wool rugs, new rear seat belts, rear quarter badges, front seat headrests, new Avon whitewall tyres, re-polished walnut veneers, picnic tables to rear of front seats, Sony remote control stereo fitted in the glove box with new speakers to all four doors and of course a complete service with new belts, hoses, fluids to include a carburettor and hydraulic service
We then used her as our own transport for a year before a regular customer persuaded us to let him take over - he again kept her for a year, covering over 10.000 trouble free miles
Her next keeper, another regular visitor to Radley Mews, took her back to Holland to join his vast collection of British classic cars
He kept her for 5 years and as opposed to the previous keeper restricted use to less than 1.000 miles in that time
Now back with us and re-registered in our name, we have once again given her a thorough servicing to include all hydraulic flex hoses and are now using her again as our own transport and will continue to do so happily until someone else decides they would like to take over
