1971 Mercedes Benz 280SL LHD

A terrific example, and another car emanating from our friends on the other side of the Atlantic - this one from the West Coast having lived all of it's life in California with one family

Fully specified when new with factory leather interior, head rests, automatic, power steering, soft & hard top (with the extra chrome strips to the top too), tinted glass, and best of all the Baur air conditioning unit too

She also has the more desirable European headlights too - which is an expensive upgrade when arriving here in the EU

Paintwork has previously been freshened, really nicely, in the original silver whilst the blue leather is completely original, and showing only mild signs of wear on the side bolsters, chrome work is bright and sharp whilst on the road this car performs beautifully, with snappy gear changes smoother than most Pagoda's and that fantastic raspy exhaust note as you climb up briskly through the revs

Performance is nice and perky feeling quite like the original 9.5 seconds to sixty quoted in the original road tests, back in the day - we haven't tested out the top speed of 124 mph though

The soft top is basically shot - so we are offering within the price quoted a brand new soft top, in a colour to suit the new owner

As with many US cars there is no history folder - when you see and drive this example it is clear this is one of the best to be found - and the price asked reflects this aspect

UK registered and with matching numbers this Pagoda is in the showrooms, spot on and ready for the off
