1984 Land Rover Defender Soft Top - previously restored
Only 38.000 miles since the overhaul, completed in about 2012 at which point the speedometer was seemingly zero'd
Since his acquisition in 2015 he has traveled only 4.000 miles, all used in or around his estate in Newbury
Very usable and quaint looking in this rather unusual green / blue hue with the canvass top in khaki and colour coded Rostyle (an extra) wheels
The restoration was "body off" and the chassis was fully galvanized whilst the body was had been completely stripped and painted
The mechanical areas are all 'tip top' and before collection by a new owner we will be giving her a full annual service, in our usual manner (fresh oils everywhere and appropriate filters etc etc)
As a very early Defender she still has the non wind up side windows which is quite cool whilst and makes her feel like a really old version
Having said that, as the "New Defender" model she benefits with the upgraded coil sprung suspension over the pre-ceeding series III, plus the upgrades to the Permanent 4 wheel drive system which was taken from the Range Rover (sensible stuff by the team from Land Rover)
The external differences were really only the extended wheel arches to accommodate the wider track for the permanent 4 wheel drive system
Acceleration is provided by the ubiquitous 2.5 litre 300TDI engine with manual gears, which is almost unburstable and provides more than ample torque at any time
Fantastic condition, easy to use at any time whether here in town or in the Country, she is simple fun and ready to use in the sun
