1970 Land Rover Velar
Here we are with another Velar
Having had the oldest surviving Velar earlier this year we have managed to obtain 3 others - this one being chassis 015A
First registered on 23rd February 1970 and delivered to the Land Rover Engineering Department of the Rover Car Company on 3rd March
She stayed with the Rover Car Company Ltd until July 1974 and it is believed that 015A was used for engine development during this time
She's had 5 keepers in the next 38 years, two of whom kept her for 34 of those years
The second of these long term owners was Dunsfold Land Rovers who carried out a full chassis off restoration after their purchase in December 1994. This was carried out with the assitance of Land Rover themselves who provided many "new old stock parts" to ensure she maintained her originality
There is a nice photographic record of the restoration kept within the immense history file
They kept her for their Dunsfold Collection where she was used and displayed on many occassions, as well as appearing in various magazine articles
On many occassions she has been used for model launches and anniversary displays, most recently at the 2008 Land Rover 60th Anniversary events at Eastnor Castle and at Gaydon Heritage Motor Centre
Dunsfold kept her in excellent condition until they sold her reluctantly last October
We managed to purchase her this year and are very proud to have such an excellent usable example of these rare prototypes within our showrooms
