1969 Rover P5B

Story and History

1969 Rover P5B Coupe
Previously restored by our team
Minimal usage since

The P5B, released in September 1967, became an instant classic and British icon, being the Prime Ministerial transport of choice for Margaret Thatcher, Edward Heath, Jim Callaghan and Harold Wilson. They obviously haven't lost their cache, because our Monarch also keeps one, albeit in a more regal shade of green

Previously restored by our team, and completed in 2015 we sold her to our one of our regular customers who has kept her in his large collection, and hardly ever used her - preferring to admire her graceful lines and colour combination

We had kept her in our own collection for 4 years having purchased her from a nice chap in Devon who had lavished £10.000 on various mechanical works

We liked her so much that we kept her as a personal vehicle, having owned a few in the past and always admiring the P5B's style

We ran her for a year before deciding to take the restoration to the next level by commissioning a full bare metal re-paint

We chose a Bentley colour of the 50s and 60s known as Smoke Green for the major part of the bodywork with a Silver Birch roof and contrasting fine lines

We also re-chroming of trim parts on the outside whilst we chose a full interior re-trim comprising seats, headrests, headlining, parcel shelf, door cards, carpet and refinished hardwood fascias and door cappings

Inside the presentation is as one would expect from a car fit for royalty, with the freshly replaced beige leathers and carpets contrasting beautifully against the woodwork which flows along the fascia and door cappings so elegantly

Today she has only 6 registered keepers (including us) in her 51 years since leaving the factory

Under the bonnet the aluminium 3.5 litre V8, designed by Buick and perfected by Rover is in fine fettle running ever so sweetly. In fact, such a good unit that Rover kept using it in their Range Rovers into the early 2000's

In summary a superior P5B Coupe - as good as she was when completed 5 years ago
