2008 Land Rover Defender SVX Soft Top Limited Edition - 850 miles only

Manufactured to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the launch of the original Land Rover in 1948 when made its debut at the Amsterdam show – but the family resemblance between it and the modern Defender is still evident

The preferable, and venerable, 4 x 4 off road utility still holds it's own

The 60th Limited Edition shares many special features when produced in 2008, including the same revised 2.4 litre four-cylinder Ford turbo diesel engine, plus it gained Recaro seats, big alloy wheels, distinctive bright work, 60th paint work and also special Edition Commemorative Plaques (ours is number 079)

Inside the cockpit it also gained some other small but well considered trim changes for the period, iPod connectivity, satnav and a decent sound system

The Defender was tweaked by the Land Rover boffins who ensured the flatter-riding was better than previous Defender courtesy of some subtle, SVX-only improvements to the damping, and much more comfortable, the new seats support occupants far better, and they also transformed the driving position from the usual Defender olden-days compromise into something close to ideal. Firmer cushioning improves comfort, too - good that the LR boffins should again, keep the bar high!

Ours has also the extra bench seats for the rear compartment, should they be required

But most of all the 90 UK produced SVX Editions are now kept in garages for knowledgeable experts

Ours Edition has only 2 owners since new and covered a simply delicious 850 miles, making this the smallest mileage possible of the Edition anywhere
