1991 Range Rover CSK Number 126 of 200
CSK's are few and far between at the best of times - then, when they come along so often we are disappointed with what is presented to us
Well, certainly not the case with this very well cared for example
As we all know, built as a special edition to celebrate 20 years of the Range Rover, the CSK (Charles Spencer King) were made as the first ever sporting version of what is now referred to as an SUV
On the road they are more overtly sporting than the standard Vogue with many upgrades to include, but not exclusive to, uprated sports suspension - in effect a GTi Range Rover
So you have a fast 3 door Range Rover with leather seating and air conditioning which is as comfortable taking you off road on a shoot as pressing on along a fast back road on the way home
With a mere 3 owners from new, the first until 1994, the second until 2007 and then the last chap who has just relinquished her and each has cherished her - their care is obvious by the fact that she has never needed restoration - what you see here is the result of genuine care and attention for 21 years
Routine maintenance and general fettling over time have kept her in superb condition
There is a full history file together with a synopsis of maintenance carried out over the last 5 years by the third owner
She has also featured in a magazine article which is kept within the history file too
Not a thing has been overlooked in her maintenance - the last owner even changed the roof panel so that he could accommodate his tall frame more easily without a sunroof and changed the low ratio gear lever trim, handbrake trim and door armrests with tan leather to match the seating
She drives brilliantly and belies her true mileage of 166.000 - when I first saw and drove her if you told me she had done 40.000, I would not have disputed it
I love it and hope you do too
