1972 Ferrari 365GTC/4 LHD - Full Classiche Certification
We've always rated the 365GTC/4 - supremely good looking in an elegant manner
More expensive than the Daytona when new they were fitted with power assisting steering and air conditioning as standard, heady stuff in the day
The underpinnings are more or less the same for both cars, with the chassis coming from the Daytona, with the exception of the lengthening to accommodate 2 tiny rear seats - actually, the seat backrests can be folded down to use for overnight luggage whilst touring
The 4.4 litre V12 (the 365 refers to each cylinder size) has double over head camshafts and a twin banks of sidedraft 38DCOE Weber carburettors (the Daytona has downdraft for that little bit of extra power)
365GTC/4 power figures 340bhp at 6.200rpm with 318 ft/lbs of torque at 4.000rpm
365GTB/4 power figures 347bhp at 7.500rpm with 318 ft/lbs of torque at 5.500rpm
365GTC/4 Top speed 162mph 0 - 60 = 6.2 seconds
365GTB/4 Top speed 174mph 0 - 60 = 5.4 seconds
So you can see that the GTC is more of a gentle mans GT rather than a Berlinetta
Only 505 were ever produced, against the Daytona with a much larger production figure of 1.284 although the GTC was launched in Geneva for motor show in the Spring of 1971 and production ceasing in 1972
So another under sung hero really
Ours has been within a large collection of cars and is UK registered
Highly prized she has previously been restored to perfection, a few years ago,and whilst not a Concours winners is in more than immaculate condition
Starting on the button she runs through the gears seamlessly and the engine spins up to the red line so quickly you need to catch the gear lever in good time
Beautiful in very dark blue with matching carpets and the sumptuous tan leather interior it would be difficult to find another more appealing version
