1987 Mercedes Benz 300SL - Immaculate condition
We do love our SL's and every car collector or enthusiast should enjoy the benefits of the SL versatility at some point
Bobby and Pam Ewing of Dallas loved their's too and even JR was seen using Bob's car instead of his 500SE.....well, you would wouldn't you
I bought my first SL, a 450, when I was only 25 and I remember driving her to Geneva within a week of owning her - the quality of build and engineering was top notch and I knew that even with only a check of the fluids we could get there without a hiccup
I've had many since and it always feels like slipping on an old jacket - with that nice feeling of something comfortable and reliable
This lovely 300SL is one of the later versions and is in immaculate condition with lustrous paintwork, which literally shines so much you need sunglasses when the sun hits the bodywork
Of course, the interior is in superior condition too, as is the engine bay - should you be the sort who would be interested in that too
89.000 miles only since new, with a full history folder including the service voucher booklet, a sheath of invoices from specialists like our friends at Roger Edwards and a myriad of old MoT's
She has a full specification including a full leather interior, rear seats, electric windows, sundym glass and even the original Becker radio / cassette unit in place too
We took her in part exchange and are now, as the Spring is upon us, are using her for commuting and journey's further afield with the Hard Top in storage
The soft top is the original unit and has hardly ever been used - in fact the last owner prefered the look of the SL in Hard Top form and therefore didn't even take it off at all! Perhaps the previous owners thought the same
Well she's good enough as a coupe, and as well as a roadster, as we are using her for the time being
Should you become the new owner, the choice is yours too
The joy of owning an SL is then apparent and can be fully appreciated
