1962 Chevrolet Corvette C1 - manual gears
We do love the American cars of this period - made in serious numbers, nevertheless they represent serious value for money and incredible performance for the money too
This late Series 1 Corvette is from the last year before the C2 was launched for 1963 model year
Hence many feature are solely for this model - the colour swathe was a cost option and the 327 cu in V8 was now standard, all earlier C1's didn't have this extra grunt
This chap was unusually shipped from the US to Australia after restoration for the new owner who was a member of the NSW Corvette Club, Australia where they were well known
The restoration was very well done with the interior, boot area and engine bay all in fantastic condition
Indeed, he comes with a couple of Trophies and Plaques from the time 'down under' verifying this fact
Our intrepid owner brought her to UK, registered for use here, whereupon, sadly, most of the history folder was mislaid, in the packing from the move........
Only the Plaques and a Trophy are left
However, undaunted when we see a good car, and one which drives so well we couldn't push him away (anyway, how many good C1's in this specification are available in Europe - less than there are E Type's for instance, which are 3 times as much for this year)
Our 'Vette comes with Hard Top, Manual 4 speed gears, Cream soft top, Aluminium intake manifold, Headers - or as we call them free flow exhaust manifolds, Cragar mag wheels plus of course the originals (see pictures), the original ignition shielding, alloy radiator and header tank and the K&N air filter too
As you could imagine he sounds 'awesome' and drives exceedingly well too
A lot of US sportscar for not much £ / €'s
