1957 Jaguar XK 150 3.4 to 'S' Specification
An American car originally, she was repatriated here in the mid 1990's and underwent a complete body off restoration, completed in 2003, during which she became a RHD drophead
There is a complete photographic record of these works together with restoration bills, which incidentally, identify well over 900 hours of labour time invoiced
As you would therefore expect, she drives as well as she looks and although when we bought her she was to standard specification with twin carbs, she also came with an original big valve head and the triple carb set up, including inlet manifold
We couldn't resist the temptation and after a few weeks of enjoying her in the Summer sunshine we took her to the workshops and the works began
We stripped off the existing heads (what we found inside was a delight as she was obviously very well rebuilt and gently used thereafter) and carried out the conversion, also fitting electronic ignition and the 'S' spec spot and fog lamps too
She still drives beautifully only now with more a purposful inlet roar and a touch more acceleration (!!!) whilst on the motorway keeping her down to 80mph isn't that easy as she just wants to go........
This uprated performance sits well with 5 speed gearbox and power steering, which she has had fitted by her previous owner, subsequent to the restoration, and even sitting in London's dense traffic she idles nicely sitting nice and cool with her Kenlowe fan cutting in when necessary
A cracking looking example, now to the ultimate specification, which is ideally suited to long distance Continental cruising
