1951 Jaguar XK120 Roadster - restored & Mille Miglia entrant 2008
A most magnificent example supplied originally to Charles J Hughes of Denver, Colarado in July 1951
She retains her original engine, gearbox and bodywork and was completely restored in Germany in the mid 2000's, being completed in 2006 - not a detail was missed in these exacting works with delightful side mirrors incorporated into the screen frame, superb quality materials for the leather, carpets and also the weather equipment - not photographed but all there and in excellent order too
Many sensible, unobtrusive upgrades were incorporated at the time, such as an alternator within the dynamo casing, engine cooling mods, electronic ignition, again within the original distributor and a stainless steel exhaust tuned towards mid range performance with an appropriate crackle as you surge through the gears
Subsequently she has been campaigned in many rally and touring events and has covered 16.000 miles now since her nut and bolt restoration
Mille Miglia
Gran Premio Nuvolari (multiple)
Rallye Milan-Sanremo
Wuerttembergische Classic (multiple)
Eifel Classic Nueburgring (multiple)
Chronoswiss Classic Bavaria (multiple)
Sachs Franken Klassik Franconia (multiple)
Donau Classic (multiple)
Sachsen Klassik Saxonia (multiple)
and many more
Naturally, twin Halda Tripmasters are fitted together with intercom to ensure accurate arrival at each timing point
The highlight of her eventing must be the 2008 Mille Miglia, which like all of the other rallies she entered she finished without hiccup (remarkable really, although to be expected from a restoration by our German friends)
She retains the Mille Miglia scrutineering tags and all equipment pertinent to participation in such events, is on the button and ready to go
An almost unprecedented opportunity to obtain an early 120, in tip top shape and ready to be campaigned in all of the best events out there
