1974 Bentley Corniche FHC 2 door saloon
We do like a Corniche FHC (or as the factory called them, 2 door saloons) and more especially when they are badged as a Bentley
This pretty example came to us from a new friend, who had popped in when his chum collected a car he had just purchased from us
A couple of years later and our new friend wanted to sell his Bentley, so as he was so impressed with our service previously he asked if we would sell his Bentley on his behalf
We were, of course, delighted, and here she is, in all of her splendour
The last 2 owners have kept her for the last 20 years and all servicing works have been carried out by our friends at P & A Wood, and we have rafts of service invoices, and other matters from them in the folder provided
Sadly there is no other paperwork prior to this, although as P & A sold it to the last owner, we know she is a proper example
Bentley Corniche FHC's were produced in rather small numbers and, indeed, it seems as though only were 5 produced in 1974, all hand built in the London production centre in Willesden
We have started her preparation with a new set of lambswool rugs for the front seats, and full service has been undertaken with new accumulators and brake pump, whilst on the cosmetic side we will remove the non standard speaker grill and matching them to the existing interior (as factory grills are coordinated) and the non standard radio with be replaced with a Blaupunkt Blue Spot, as original
We also will re-wad the front seat bases, as the shape is not to our liking
Happily the interior veneers are completely delightful, and have either been looked after fastidiously or perhaps have been removed and re-polished by someone who actually knows what they are doing
So all in all she will be rather natty and happily she drives more than reasonably, after all of the care and attention paid to her over the last 20 years by P & A Wood too
Priced accordingly to her early history, or lack thereof, she still represents a fine version of an extremely rare motorcar, and could be considered a snip at the price
